With over 20 years experience in a variety of martial arts, Damien commenced his training in martial arts as a 12-year old. Damien started with boxing at London St Pancras (now know as The Kronk), and Tae Kwon Do at Westminster University Gym.
During the 5 years in which he studied Tae Kwon Do, Damien competed regularly for his club and won a number of Gold and Silver Medals both at Club, Regional and International Tae Kwon Do competitions.
In addition to Tae Kwon Do, Damien has studied Judo and Ju Jitsu under British Judo Champion Sensei Jim Thorpe. He has also studied Wing Chun and Krav Maga.
By the age of 17 Damien had achieved his 1st Dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and was proficient in Judo, Ju Jitsu and Boxing.
On joining the 1st Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (1 Para), having graduated as P-Company Champion at the age of 18. Damien was selected to be part of the Battalion Boxing Team. With the team he regularly won his fights in inter-company boxing tournaments, securing trophies and recognition. During this time Damien also trained in Thai Boxing with British Thai Boxing Champion, Darren James Collins.
In addition to his martial arts skills, Damien has also served his country as part of The Parachute Regiment (1 Para), which in 2005 became the Special Forces Support Group (SFSG). During this time Damien served in theatres such as Northern Ireland, Iraq, Afghanistan and Africa; on strike operations, counter terror operations and training teams.
During his eight and a half year service career Damien maintained his martial arts and unarmed combat skills. Making time to learn new forms and techniques through the facilities and training provided within The Regiment.
On leaving The Regiment in 2011, Damien moved into Risk Management and Private Security, where he spent the next 4-years working in Iraq as a Close Protection Operator and Team Leader. Always one for maintaining his training and developing new skills, he further honed his martial arts and unarmed combat skills. While on leave from his Close Protection duties in Iraq, Damien has travelled to the USA where he trained at Extreme Couture in Las Vegas.
In July 2017, Damien was invited to step back into the ring as a competitive semi-professional fighter for Warrior Muay Thai – Warrington which is run by Damien’s old and close friend Darren James Collins.
Damien currently holds the K1 Kickboxing title for East Anglia and has additional UK, European and World title fights lined up over the coming 18-months.
When Damien is not training other’s through Ares Tactical Concepts he continues to train himself and is currently studying Krav Maga and continues his study of Muay Thai.
